Pontevedra: Capela da Virxe Peregrina

            The Capela da Virxe Peregrina (Chapel of the Virgin of the Pilgrims) is a stop for pilgrims along the branch of the Camino de Santiago that leads from Portugal north to Santiago. It was constructed between 1753 and 1792 in a Baroque style, with Neo-Classical elements.

The church has an unusual rounded façade. It is a tall but slender and narrow structure whose blueprint is based on the scallop shell, the traditional symbol of pilgrims and the most iconic symbol associated with the Camino de Santiago.
