GB 16 14.04.2024 Carlisle Bridge

            Ian Rileys two black 5,s 44871 and 45407 cross the River Lune at Lancaster with the ECS to Carnforth on Day 2 of GB16. The upper part of the bridge  was rebuilt in 1962/63, although the 2 central piers are those from the original Lancaster and Carlisle railway dating back to 1847. Student and residential accommodation has now replaced businesses that once occupied the river front on the right hand side.
