Melk is een stadje en gemeente in de Oostenrijkse deelstaat Neder-Oostenrijk, gelegen in het district Melk. De gemeente heeft ongeveer 5200 inwoners.

 Het ligt in het centrum van het land, ten westen van de hoofdstad Wenen. De plaats ligt aan de rechteroever van de Donau, die bij Melk via de Donaubrug overgestoken kan worden. De rivieren de Pielach en de Melk monden bij de plaats Melk in de Donau uit.

In de oudheid noemden de Romeinen de plaats Namare. In de middeleeuwen werd de plaats Medelike genoemd. In de negentiende eeuw werd de plaats ook met Mölk aangeduid

Melk is a town and municipality in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, located in the district of Melk. The municipality has approximately 5200 inhabitants.

  It is located in the center of the country, west of the capital Vienna. The place is on the right bank of the Danube, which can be crossed at Melk via the Danube bridge. The Pielach and Melk rivers flow into the Danube at Melk.

In ancient times the Romans called the place Namare. In the Middle Ages the place was named Medelike. In the nineteenth century the place was also referred to as Mölk
