Sé do Porto. Stairwell With Azulejo Tile Mural Panels.

            2021 Oct 24.  The azulejo tile mural panels in the stairwell leading up to the second-level promenade in the Sé do Porto depict scenes of everyday life rather than religious subjects.  This is in line with the scenes on the tile murals on the second level.  It appears that, once one stepped away from the work of the church, it was permitted or encouraged to think about everything else. 

(A woman would have instead or also put panels up where one could see them more easily, and where people put their dirty hands.  The same way we would mount those toilet escargot up where they were designed to hang so that you could actually pull the paper down and out without it turning into dental floss.  Just saying.)
