view on Skaftafell massive - a photo on Flickriver

            One of the things that impressed me the most were the immense lava fields in Iceland. Ranging from rather new with no vergetation to fields covered with mosses and still in one piece, but also fields that were starting to break up like the one you see here.

Sometimes the were so big you could see them until the horizon, and it is easy to think of how giant the eruptions must have been.

In the background the also immense Skatafell massive. Iceland at its best.
