The Quintessential Wyoming Shot - a photo on Flickriver

            The drive home from Deseret Power was long, and rather than drive through Kansas a second time, we opted to pass through Wyoming and Nebraska. Cheyenne was our stop overnight, and in the morning as we headed to the car, a stack train came shooting by our hotel. Well, what better way to start a very long drive home than a quick pitstop for a photo.

The legendary Archer Hill is easier to access than I realized, though it did take a bit of a walk. We got to the top of the hill just as our train, led by one of the recent UP repaints, was halfway through the huge S-curve! Our morning light was pretty head on the nose, but getting to see a big western stack train through this classic scene was pretty neat. Next time I go through Wyoming, I wouldn't mind trying to snap something else here again. It's been five years since my last visit to the state... I wonder how long it'll be till my next one.

Anyway, from here on, we had a long, long day ahead of us. Thankfully, we made it to our destination in time without incident and with a couple of stops along the way.
