Glencoe - a photo on Flickriver

Glencoe

            On a freezing cold morning, with temperatures at minus 8, the Aonach Eagach ridge reflected in the still waters of Loch Achtriochtan in Glencoe, as the sun rises over the mountains to the east; lighting the ridge. This is Scotland's (and one of Europe's) most dangerous mountains: more people are killed on the Aonach Eagach than any other mountain in Scotland. Although not apparent, the knife edge ridge is less than one metre wide at some points and avalanche prone in heavy snow: top to bottom 1000 metres.
