Freeling Institute Hall designed by architect H J Cowell, foundation stone by Sir Jenkin Coles 1905. South Australia

            After the laying of the stone by Sir Jenkin Coles, celebrations consisted of a procession of the combined schools and footballers in fancy costumes, headed by the Freeling Brass Band, to the park, where a fancy costume football match and other attractions, including refreshments, were provided. A largely attended concert was given in the institute hall in the evening. The final function for the day was a dance. The Kapunda Herald carried photographs of the laying of the stone, and fancy dressed footballers.

Contractors: Messrs J T Quinn & Co., of Hamley Bridge: the price being £877, exclusive of stone, sand, lime, brick, and water, the total cost being £1,250.
