TLC from the engineering staff - a photo on Flickriver

            In a picture taken from the public road, three of Lothian’s extensive fleet are seen receiving attention from the engineering department at Longstone Garage in west Edinburgh. Longstone was first opened by the city’s municipal transport undertaking in 1955 in order to provide a base for buses needed for a growing number of routes in the west of the city. It replaced the converted Gorgie tram depot and adjacent bus park and was brought into use on 23rd October 1955. The Longstone Garage was refurbished in 2013 when a large extension was added - of which this is a part - to house engineering staff and provide other facilities. Longstone is also home to Lothian’s training school.
