            La ville située dans la province de palerme (sicile), est construite au pied de la 'Rocca', rocher haut de 244,56 mètres.
Elle a été successivement occupée par les Romains (-251) les Arabes (IXe siècle) et les Normands (XIe siècle).
En 857, Cefalù tombe aux mains des Musulmans avant d'être libérée en 1063 par les Normands dirigés par Roger de Hauteville, et alliés de la Papauté (depuis 1059). Durant la période normande (1063-1194), la ville se dote de nombreux monuments et notamment de sa célèbre cathédrale, construite à partir de 1131 sur ordre du 1er roi normand de Sicile, Roger II, fils cadet de Roger de Hauteville

The city located in the province of palermo (sicily) is built at the foot of the 'Rocca', high rock of 244.56 meters.
It was successively occupied by the Romans (-251) the Arabs (ninth century) and the Normans (eleventh century).
In 857, Cefalù fell into the hands of the Muslims before being liberated in 1063 by the Normans led by Roger de Hauteville, and allies of the Papacy (since 1059). During the Norman period (1063-1194), the city acquired numerous monuments and in particular its famous cathedral, built from 1131 on order of the 1st Norman king of Sicily, Roger II, younger son of Roger de Hauteville
