Stranger 69 of 100 - Hannan - a photo on Flickriver

I was being inspired by the glorious weather we were having and consequently I had my camera everywhere I went. I had to stop in a garden centre at one of the local supermarkets on my way home from work to get a couple of extra flowers for the flower pots. I wandered in and looked around, seeking some bright and vibrant plants. The choices were many, but I had to consider what I already had in my yard and so I weighed up my options and opted for a couple of red geraniums. I saw Hannan watering the flowers and decided I would ask her to be one of my strangers. After paying the cashier I returned to my car and got my camera. Luckily Hanna was now on the till and with no-one around it was easy to approach her. She readily accepted and after taking just four shots I could see a customer close to finishing choosing their flowers so I asked Hannan my stock questions. Hannan said her biggest challenge was moving to Toronto from Egypt. She has been in Canada for less than a year and even though she came with her family, adjusting had been hard. I reassured her that the toughest time was the first year and she was almost through that hard initiation.
Hannan said the advice she would give to her younger self would be to make better choices around studying and her career. She wants to be a teacher.
I thanked her in Arabic (shukran lak), for taking the time and allowing me to photograph her, while she was at work. I gave her my card and reminded her to email me if she wanted the shots sent to her.
