Stranger 209 of 300 - Yvonne - a photo on Flickriver

I visited my friend’s Wellness centre to get a foot massage. My friend wasn’t there and there was a new receptionist. Still not back my previous level of stranger alertness I didn’t really consider asking her to take her photo. Foot massage completed, I was more relaxed and upon returning to the reception area, immediately decided to ask the receptionist to take her photo. Meet Yvonne. She readily agreed and I returned to the car to get my camera.

Yvonne felt the pictures made her face look fat, she says she has large shoulders and that makes her unattractive. I could only smile and tell her that there are very few people who are happy with how they look (not very helpful I know, but I couldn’t think of anything to say that didn’t start with, “don’t be silly…”)

Her advice to younger self would be to study harder. She repeated the advice a couple more times.
Her biggest challenge has been to find someone to settle down with. She's had two relationships of about 3 years, but they both were ended by her ex-boyfriends. She fears nobody wants her. I could only shake my head. She's no more than 25-27 and thinking this way seems either totally a culturally driven thing or an age thing (or both).
