Night Sky with Caledonian Sleeper - a photo on Flickriver

            This was my first attempt at Astro photography, taken at Bridge of Orchy, Scotland. It was a true “dark sky” and I couldn’t see a thing through the view finder, it was a case of set up the camera, press the button and hope for the best. I’m quite pleased with the results. 

I’m intrigued by the flash of green in the left of the image and wonder if this could be a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Any comments on that last point would be welcome.

I’ve checked the records and the Aurora was visible in the far north on October the 30th 2019. I was around 56 degrees north so I guess it’s possible that this was a chance sighting.
