3,000 feet down to Arnisdale Bay. Looking across the superb fjord of Loch Hourn to Ladhar Bheinn at 1,020 metres.

            Commentary.

The climb up Beinn Sgritheall is notoriously steep and relentless.
From the semi-circular Arnisdale Bay we climbed for the best part of two hours, up a valley, east of the village, to a col.
We then turned west and climbed up a scree slope  that exceeded a 35 ° gradient in places.
So often, the hardest element comes 
when you are fast running out of energy.
So, the last 200 metres of ascent was slow and very hard
because the scree was loose and unstable.
Hard work but very gratifying when such a view as this is the reward.
Boats become commas. Cars are full stops.
Houses are hyphens. Roads are cotton thread.
Hourn is a veritable chasm gouged by repeated glaciers
and subsequent sea incursion.
Nearly a thousand feet deep in places, and reaching over 3,000 feet at Ben Sgritheall to the north, and Ladhar Bheinn to the south, in Knoydart.
The views are expansive taking in:-
the Cuillins of Skye,
the Sleat Peninsula,
the Isles of Rum and Eigg,
Loch Nevis,
the Ardnamurchan Peninsula,
Knoydart,
Sgurr na Ciche,
Barrisdale Bay and mountains 
as far south as Ben Nevis.
Stunning, spectacular and sensational!
