            Commentary.

Another view from Battleship Hill, near Oban.
This time we are looking west, inland, towards Loch Awe
and the elegant, graceful, multi-peaked mountain called Ben Cruachan.
At 1,126 metres, 3,694 feet, it is one of the loftiest peaks in Argyll.
It has become to be known as, “The Hollow Mountain.”
A large corrie high up between its many arêtes has its water re-cycled.
It plunges down pipes for hundreds of feet  to operate electricity turbines, deep within the mountain.
This produces large quantities of “clean” hydro-electric power.
The water is then pumped back up to the corrie and the process is endlessly repeated.
All this, inside a massive cavity excavated from solid rock, inside this enormous mountain, without harm to its aesthetically beautiful and precious environment.
