WELCOME TO THE WORLD! - a photo on Flickriver

            Burrowing Owl's first appearance from the burrow! Notice mom's foot (top right) as she keeps a watchful eye. Seems like I'm right on top of the nest but to assure all, I was about 25-29 feet away as my trusty Canon 100-400 allowed discretion. The whole neighborhood knew we'd have chicks soon. The burrow is on a vacant lot near my house. In weeks to come when everyone flies off, construction will begin on a new home but two humans (who recently purchased the lot) had to wait for nature's event to happen first. Cape Coral protects their little owls. I hope you enjoy this as much as I. It comforts in this crazy world we live in today.

* Cape Coral, Florida has well over 1,000 nests in town, some on people's front lawns. They are loved here.
