A Garden of Lichen and Mosses - a photo on Flickriver

            Haircap moss, Rock Moss, and Reindeer lichen carpet a granite flat rock. The patches of bright red are the granite endemic Diamorpha, which is found only on granite outcrops in the Piedmont of the Southeastern United States, primarily in the state of Georgia. This rare and fragile habitat is threatened by quarrying, land development, and recreational use.
