Yurtas Kirguisas

            Pueblo nómada por excelencia, los kirguises fueron haciéndose sedentarios poco a poco pero aún hoy día mantienen la técnica tradicional de fabricación de yurtas. Son éstas una especie de tiendas de campaña de forma similar a un semicírculo y soportadas por una estructura de madera que termina en un círculo denominado tundyuk. La estructura está recubierta mediante fieltro, que se sujeta a ella con una especie de cordones. Debido a su función como hábitat tradicional de los pastores nómadas, su instalación resulta sumamente sencilla y una vez desmontada es fácil de transportar. De la importancia que tienen las yurtas en la sociedad kirguís da idea el hecho de que siguen siendo utilizadas para las celebraciones importantes como bodas, fiestas o incluso ritos funerarios. Incluso, cuando llega el periodo vacacional muchas familias se desplazan con ellas para recordar tiempos pasados.
