Affen-Brunnen, Andreasplatz, Basel - a photo on Flickriver

            Bereits im 14. Jahrhundert wird ein Affenbrunnen in Basel erwähnt. Dieser wurde im Jahre 1585 abgebrochen. Ein "neuer" Affe entstand im 17. Jahrhundert. Er trägt neben einem Hut auch ein Hemd und ist gerade am Verspeisen von Trauben. Der Affe wurde 1867 auf den heutigen Affenbrunnen gesetzt. 1916 musste Jean Hym eine Nachbildung von diesem Affen anfertigen, weil das Original ins Historische Museum abgegeben wurde. Bereits 1973 musste der Affe ein weiteres Mal nachgehauen werden. 1974 wurde er mit Mineralfarben bemalt.
