La Tour D'Avalon (09/2021)

            La Tour d'Avalon est un édifice classé monument historique de la vallée du Grésivaudan en Isère, sur la commune de Saint-Maximin (Près de Pontcharra) à la frontière avec la Combe de Savoie.
Haute de 33 mètres, un diamètre intérieur d’environ 8 mètres et des murs d’une épaisseur de 2 mètres au premier étage.
La Tour d’Avalon témoigne de l’histoire d’un ancien village moyenageux fortifié et d’une famille de seigneurs, présente dans le haut Grésivaudan dès l’an 1000 : les Wallon et Romestang d’Avalon.
Elle est restaurée en 1895 par les moines chartreux en l’honneur de Saint-Hugues d’Avalon, né en ce lieu en 1140..
