Hopping Great Egret (Ardea alba), Azraq Wetland Reserve, Jordan

            Staying with the Egrets this morning...  :-)  One nice thing about this image, I think, is the muted light was bouncing off the water surface and lighting the birds very nicely that day... 

I went out yesterday to four new potential places I scouted in Google Earth far to the north... as close as I wanted to get to the Syrian border, the Yarmouk River and then "down" a bit, near the Jordan River south of the Sea of Galilee... saw some birds... but there are serious checkpoints around and pulling out the large and the prominent camouflage covered long glass from the back seat and then walking around with it slung to my shoulder and pointing it seemed like I could upset someone... so I choose discretion yesterday and retreated... little to show for a seven hour trip other than it's just too lovely here...  sigh..
