Valašské Meziříčí - Square Statue - St. Florian 02

The oldest sculpture by an unknown artist from the year 1742. It was created as a thank you for the retreat of the Prussian army from cities and let it stand wife of Ludvika, Countess of Zerotin. Its alliance emblem can be found here, along with the coat of arms of her late husband Frantisek Ludvik of Zerotin.

Holy Florian's Catholic saint and martyr. He died during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. Because during the torture did not want to give up Christ was put to death by throwing into the river with a stone tied to his neck. St. Florian is the patron saint of professions related to the fire - firefighters, steelworkers, chimney sweeps, potters and bakers.
