Barbary ground squirrel - Atlantoxerus getulus - Barbarijse grondeekhoorn

            It is endemic to the Western Sahara, Algeria and Morocco. In Morocco they are particularly fond of the seeds of the argan trees (Argania spinosa L.) which can only be found in the area Agadir - Tafraoute and nowhere else in the world, cultivated for oil production.
