Thornaby MPD by Andy Sutton - a photo on Flickriver

Class 03 numbers D2149 and D2070, and Class 37 number 6777 sit together at Thornaby MPD back in July 1971.
03149 started its life as D2149 and was ex-works on the 20th May 1960. D2149 worked in the North Eastern Region from 1969 to 1971 when it moved to the Eastern Region. It was stored in 1982 and was (mostley) scrapped in 1983. Its cab servives on D2148.
D2070 was ex-works in 1959. It also spent most of its life in the Eastern Region. It was withdrawn from BR service in November 1971 and was sold to Shipbreaking (Queensborough) where it remained until 1987. It was initually preserved in South Yorkshire but moved to Derbyshire in 1993. It was sold to Cotswold Rail in 2001 but was stripped for spares.
