Amberg, kath. Stadtpfarrkirche, Langhaus

            Nach dem Regensburger Dom ist St. Martin die größte Kirche der Oberpfalz (72 Meter Länge und 28 Meter Breite).  Finanziert wurde die Kirche von der Bürgerschaft. Sie repräsentiert deren Stolz und Zahlungfähigkeit. Baubeginn war 1421. Es ist die erste Anlage mit durchgehendem Kapellenkranz.  Für noch weiter im Osten gebaute Kirchen hatte sie Vorbildfunktion. Nach etwas mehr als hundert Jahren war das Bauwerk vollendet. Die Innenausstattung beschäftigte jedoch noch mehrere Generationen von Handwerkern bis ins 21. Jh...  Eine Außenrenovierung ist Ende des Jahres abgeschlossen und Innen erfolgt diese wenn die Mittel bereitgestellt werden.
