REH Reliance in Stafford. - a photo on Flickriver

            Clem's commute to work was by bus from his home village of Eccleshall into Stafford. Over the years that could have been courtesy of PMT, Midland Red or Arriva by the end of his working days. 
From the many photographs which he took, most at the Stafford end, it was clear that his favourites were PMT's 'semi-lowbrodge' Weymann Atlanteans and these small Alexander bodied AEC Reliances. Just about every one of the latter was captured, some multiple times over. Here 1961 built 887 REH is seen parked on the layover side of Stafford's Bus Station (the one which adjoined the railway station and which is now a multi-storey car park) wearing what looks to be recently applied NBC 'Poppy'.
These manual boxed '470 engined Reliances were the final 30ft saloons to enter the PMT fleet and most served until 1976 by which time semi-automatics were very much in favour.
