Out for a crawl

             yellow-bellied slider (Trachemys scripta scripta) - Pitt County, North Carolina, USA

One of the more common species of turtle in the South Eastern United States, usually these turtles are seen basking on floating logs or other debris out on the water.  However this one was either out looking for a spot to lay her eggs or fleeing a drying waterhole which had shrunken dramatically in size during a recent drought.  Not sure, but I had my telephoto lens attached so I was able to stay far away and not disturb her or him as the turtle went about its business.
