Mösseberg Spa II

The health resort Mösseberg was founded in 1865 (the railway to Falköping city had opened in 1858). Mösseberg became popular due to the fresh air on the slopes of the mountain Mösseberg plus the abundant spring water. The resort consists of a number of buildings and a surrounding park "Mössebergsparken". The initiators Dr Adolf Fredrik Melander and architect Gustaf Sjöberg had made a study trip to bathing facilities in Germany and France. For the design of park and plantings the garden director Jacob Aspman was hired.

The buildings in the park are listed buildings (Swedish: byggnadsminnen) and enjoy the strongest legal cultural and historical protection available.

Building 6B: "The New Villa" The Spa Hotel (Swedish: "Nya Villan" Kurortshotellet) - the first part was built in 1902 and an extension in the Art Nouveau style, was built in 1907. Architect: Gustaf Sjöberg.
