A Chocolate Indulgence with Tea - a photo on Flickriver

            The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday” is "chocolate", and what could be more indulgent to have with a cup of tea than a chocolate Knopper wafer biscuit?  This theme was not a temptation for me, as I am a more savoury person, however I had to forbid my partner, who is a real sweet tooth, not to eat these until I had photographed them.  All three were gone by the time the tea was drunk, and none were consumed by me!  I hope you approve of my choice for the theme and that it makes you smile.

Knoppers is a brand of wafer biscuit filled with hazelnut and milk creme, produced by August Storck. Knoppers were launched by Storck in Germany in 1983.  One Knoppers biscuit consists of five layers: A wafer, hazelnut creme, another wafer, milk creme, and another chocolate-covered wafer.   

This Hydrangea tea set was made by the Paragon China company in England.  It features a double Royal Warrant on its base: “By Appointment to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Her Majesty Queen Mary”, which indicates that these were made between 1936 and 1939.
