1964 Lotus-Ford 30

            Pictured is a 1964 Lotus-Ford 30.

The Lotus 30 was Colin Chapman's sole attempt at producing a car for Can-Am / Group 7 racing. The car, however, proved to be a disappointment. The chassis tended to flex, the engine regularly overheated and the drivers encountered braking problems.

The most prominent driver to race a 30 was double Formula 1 World Champion Jim Clark, although even the legendary Scotsman struggled with the car, winning only a minor sports car race at Mallory Park.

The car show above is chassis 30/L/20 that was raced by occassional Formula 1 driver David Prophet in 1965, finishing ninth in the Tourist Trophy and fourth in the sports car race that supported the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
