Quiet a rare sight in the UK, the Mercedes L206 was manufactured by Mercedes between 1970-77 with German manufacture in Bremen and Hamburg. The Mercedes L206 D started life as a Hanomag – Henschel F20 until taken over by Daimler-Benz in 1970. Daimler Benz; in keeping with the naming tradition of Mercedes; re-named the F20 as the L 206D. Following the end of production Bajaj Tempo of India purchased the rights from Mercedes, and continued to manufacture the van through till the lated 1990s in Puna, India as the Matador, usually as a Minibus. Subsequently Bajaj Tempo has become Force Motors
