Smurf in a Canadian Tuxedo - a photo on Flickriver

            While CN power is relatively common through Topeka on UP's Optima, OK grain trains, they don't often end up laying over in town on the locals. 

Such was the case on July 13, 2023 when I spotted the CN 3128 in the UP yard! As evidenced by the clouds overhead, daytime shots would've been a bust, but they worked out to my advantage once the sun went down. I was honestly shocked to find that this Tier 4 GE was already nine (!) years old, and its stablemate for the night was UP SD40N no. 1795. Interestingly, this unit was built as one of the GECX Smurfs, before they were transferred to the CN.
