A quiet morning after rain ( and before the crowds): Shambles, York

            The most picturesque part of Shambles on a quiet morning after rain. By about 10 am the visitors will arrive and most days the queue starts to form for the York Ghost Merchants shop. This drawing is one of a number I have made of this part of Shambles. The street was saved from large scale demolition in the late 1950s and early 1960s, unlike several other closely packed alleyways and streets as the buildings were in poor condition. Now it is one of York's biggest tourist attractions.
