Cherry Blossoms Early Breakout, March 15, 2012

            This year, 2012, marks the centennial of the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. and to celebrate the occasion the cherry blossoms broke out surprisingly early.  Cherry blossoms in D.C. normally reach peak bloom in April but, as a result of the unusually mild winter, they're expected to peak on March 20-23.
