Hiding cat, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia - a photo on Flickriver

            Taken in the summer of 1986, here a black cat hiding underneath a stack of fish tubs. I was spending the afternoon photographing old fishing draggers moored along the old rickety docks that lined Water Street back then when I found this stack of fish tubs. By themselves they don't make a very intersting pic, but after noticing the cat hiding underneath... watching me closely, I decided to grab a few shots. I was using my old 6x9 cm Century Graphic 
with Kodak CP100 (6094) color negative film. I used the longest lens I had, a Voigtlander 18cm Technica Telomar in a Syncro-Compur shutter. The cat bolted from its hiding place when I moved closer to get a better shot. It was then that I discovered that it was black (bad luck???). Being black and hiding in deep shade, the "eyes only" effect reminded me of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland.

This is an image from a Kodacolor CP100 color negative copied with a Nikon D3500 camera, Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 lens fitted with a Nikon 4T close-up lens, with a Sigma 1.6x achromatic close-up lens on the 4T. Lighting was provided by a 5000k LED bulb in a small goose-neck table lamp. A large ground glass screen was placed between the lamp and the negative carrier.
