            The kestrel is a fascinating bird of prey that can often be seen soaring over fields and meadows. It hunts mainly small rodents such as voles, which it grabs and kills with its sharp fangs. The kestrel is the most common falcon in Central Europe and a cultural successor that likes to breed in old buildings or church towers. It has reddish-brown plumage with black patterns and a grey head and tail in the male. The female is uniformly reddish brown with cross bands on the tail. The kestrel has a rapid call that sounds like "ki-ki-ki". It is not endangered in Germany and was voted Bird of the Year in 2007.

Der Turmfalke ist ein faszinierender Greifvogel, der oft im Rüttelflug über Feldern und Wiesen zu sehen ist. Er jagt vor allem Kleinnager wie Wühlmäuse, die er mit seinen scharfen Fängen packt und tötet. Der Turmfalke ist der häufigste Falke in Mitteleuropa und ein Kulturfolger, der gerne in alten Gebäuden oder Kirchtürmen brütet. Er hat ein rotbraunes Gefieder mit schwarzen Mustern und einen grauen Kopf und Schwanz beim Männchen. Das Weibchen ist einheitlich rotbraun mit Querbändern am Schwanz. Der Turmfalke hat einen schnellen Ruf, der wie "ki-ki-ki" klingt. Er ist in Deutschland nicht gefährdet und wurde 2007 zum Vogel des Jahres gewählt.
