            Sculpture in Plant Park with Tampa skyscrapers in the background. The cylindrical building on the left is the Rivergate Tower (also known as the Sykes Building). Completed in 1988 at a height of 454 feet and faced in limestone, it was a bank headquarters but is now home to Sykes Enterprises. The building has won architectural awards, though it is an acquired taste for some. It is locally known as the "beer can" building. 

The Bank of America Plaza building, completed in 1986 as Barnett Plaza, is 577 feet and was the tallest building in Tampa until 1992. According to Wikipedia, in January 2002 a disturbed teenager flew a small Cessna into the building as a suicide that was apparently inspired by the September 11 attacks four months earlier.
