            Just in time for Christmas!  Here is the Silver...

Illinois Railway Museum's Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 9911A and restored Chicago & Northwestern 411 are unquestionably the pride of their diesel fleet.  Both are streamlined locomotives built by Electro-Motive Division (EMD) of General Motors in LaGrange, Illinois.

CB&Q E5 9911A, the "Silver Pilot," was built in 1940, when EMD was still known as EMC (Electro-Motive Corporation, a stand-alone company before being fully acquired by GM).  The E5's were exclusive to the Burlington, and they ran the famous "Zephyr" trains.  9911A was one of 16 E5s built (11 cabbed A-units, 5 cabless B-units) and is the last one in existence.  Here it powers the Nebraska Zephyr trainset.
