Eastern Screech-Owl - a photo on Flickriver

            He looks just like the bark, so well camouflaged that he is difficult to spot.  It is likely he/she is nesting in this hole.  Startled, he ducks down out of sight. I wanted to get a shot with his eyes open but had to settle for the sleepy version with a little foot sticking out. The Eastern Screech-Owl also comes in a reddish-brown version.  I rarely see this little Owl so this was a treat.
