Lac Lammasjärvi à Kuhmo (Suomi - Finlande)

            Pays aux milliers de lacs (ici le Lammasjärvi gelé et donc non troublé par les moustiques), la plupart communiquant entre eux, ceux-ci sont surtout d'origine glaciaire et dominés par la forêt boréale. Environ 187 000 ont plus de 0,05 ha, 56 000 plus de 1 ha et 300 plus de 10 km², soit 65 % de leur superficie totale.

Cette dernière représente à peu près 10 % de celle de la Finlande, équivalant à la taille de la Belgique. Ces lacs sont  parsemés d'à peu près autant d'îles, peu profonds et recouvrent jusqu'à 25 % du territoire, surtout au centre et à l'est, appelé justement la Région des lacs (cf. Wikipédia).
