Epiblema species micro-moth in the Kingmoor South Nature Reserve, Carlisle, 31 May 15.

There are times when I question whether it's worth the fag of photographing run-of-the-mill Tortrix moths, as you're often left with a near-impossible job when it comes to pinning down the id. At least in this particular case I was able to get a decent side-on shot, which makes things a bit easier.

I'm pretty confident that this specimen must be either E. cirsiana, E. scutulana, E. sticticana or E. cniciolana. Only the first three are found in Cumbria, and of these only the second one has been previously reported in the Carlisle area. So it's probably Epiblema scutulana...but I wouldn't bet on it!
