Mustardy Mustang - a photo on Flickriver

Mustardy Mustang

            Near the South Coast Repertory Theater in Costa Mesa, California.

This particular car illustrates a certain quirk found in many of the first series of Mustangs. Examine where the leading edge of the hood transitions to the the headlight door (the piece that surrounds the headlight.) It seems that on many perhaps even most Mustangs I've seen of that era, there's a mismatch in that the leading edges of the two parts don't align! Now look at the one closer to the left side of the photo. That one appears to be aligned as intended. The Thunderbirds of that same era never seem to display that quirk. Yes, the Mustang above appears to have a 'sprung hood', but check out others on an image search and you'll see what I've noticed.
