1976 US Grand Prix West in Long Beach

            Also known as the Long Beach (California) Grand Prix. This year was the first time that Formula One cars competed in the race.

The beautiful young woman shown was my boss's sister-in-law. During college, I worked part-time in downtown Long Beach at a print shop/copying store. My boss and his wife lived in the International Tower Building, that cylindrical structure that can be seen in many photos of the Downtown Long Beach skyline and in one of the Lethal Weapon movies.

For race day, they invited us employees to join their family up in their apartment to view the race. To make a long story short, the young sister-in-law was willing to pose for a couple of photos, of which this is my favorite. I think she was a senior at Millikan High School in Long Beach at this time.
