View down on a gravel bar in the Bow River, Calgary

            From the pedestrian bridge below the LRT (commuter train) overpass, near 10 St. W., on the edge of downtown Calgary. Flow is to the top, to the east. Note the deeper, darker, narrow channel between the subaerially exposed bar and shallowly submerged bar (upper right). The gravel bars at this site were thickened and enlarged by the late June 2013 flooding of the Bow River.

(My decades of experience in sedimentary geology inform the description above.)
