Florida Burrowing Owl (Athene cunicularia floridana)

While visiting our son in Florida, he invited us for a Sunday drive to Marco Island. I was in the passenger's seat with my camera, shooting out of the window. At one point, I noticed a man standing near a grassy intersection, pointing his camera toward two, small, brown birds. We were going too fast to stop, but after lunch, returned to the spot, parked and got out. I soon discovered that the birds were a pair of Burrowing Owls and that the City of Marco Island had put a sign near the owls warning people that they are protected and not to be harassed. While keeping an appropriate distance, I was able to get some great images and count this as a Lifer!
