Churrinche (Pyrocephalus rubinus) - a photo on Flickriver

            Churrinche  (Pyrocephalus rubinus)  
Plumaje muy vistoso. Se posa en sitios visibles. El macho tiene la corona, semicopete y ventral rojos. El dorso y la cola negruzcos. Las alas son negruzcas con filetes claros. 
La hembra es gris-pardusca con el pecho estriado y subcaudal rosáceo. Joven con plumajes intermedios.
En América durante la primavera y el verano se distribuye por Argentina, sur de Brasil, Uruguay y Estados Unidos. Durante los respectivos inviernos migran a las regiones tropicales. Es residente común en gran parte de Colombia.8 En la provincia de Buenos Aires llegan a principios de septiembre,10 después de la reproducción, migran al norte en invierno, y llegan al sureste de Colombia y a Venezuela. En Brasil se les puede ver en el pantanal en junio y en el sur durante el verano.
