War Memorial, Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone, Kent

            This statue, sculpted by Mary Cox, was erected by public demand and subscription by Maidstone Borough Council and was unveiled on 1st November 2011 by the Commanding Officer,  Lt. Col. S.J. Hulme, MBE, RE.

A soldier of 38 Engineer Regiment (Search) of Maidstone’s Invicta Barracks is depicted returning from a mission in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The statue represents a lasting tribute by the town to the members of the regiment whose sacrifice and bravery is hereby recognised and celebrated.
