Singschwäne sind Brutvögel der osteuropäischen und sibirischen Taiga. Im Herbst und Winter sind diese Schwäne auch in Mitteleuropa zu beobachten. In Küstengebieten und im norddeutschen Tiefland sind sie regelmäßiger Wintergast. Zunehmend kommt es aber auch zu Übersommerungen und vereinzelten Bruten in Mitteleuropa. Der Zug aus den Wintergebieten setzt im Oktober ein. Sie kehren ab März in ihre Brutgebiete zurück.

Whooper swans are breeding birds of the Eastern European and Siberian taiga. In autumn and winter, these swans can also be observed in Central Europe. They are regular winter visitors in coastal areas and in the North German lowlands. Increasingly, however, they also summer over and breed occasionally in Central Europe. Migration from wintering areas begins in October. They return to their breeding grounds from March onwards.
