Plestiodon fasciatus (juvenile), Stone Mountain Park, DeKalb County, Georgia 3

This is a juvenile five-lined skink. The blue tail fades with age. The tail detaches very easily if something grabs it. The lizard exits while the tail remains wiggling. Looks like the species went through a Genus reassignment but not everyone is excepting it. It is difficult to tell this lizard from the southeastern five-lined skink without looking at the scale configuration on the bottom side of the tail.
