Pennsylvania Railroad view of steam locomotives seen in the shop and yard area at East Altoona, Pennsylvania, September 16, 1955. A large percentage of the locomotives seen in the photo are I1 class 2-10-0 steam locomotives. It appears that some M1 class 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotives are seen on the right side of the photo. There appears to be a T1 class 4-4-4-4 steam locomotive seen on the right side sitting on a stub track. I would bet that a trusty old K4 is sitting somewhere among this group of locomotives. In the background is a maintenance area, various shops and a roundhouse. On the upper far right is seen the railroad yard with many freight trains in view.
